WALK WITH ME

Hello Family and Friends, April 18, 2008
(and it’s snowing!)

In 1998 I stopped being able to walk.

I had bone spurs growing in my spine, wrapping around my sciatic nerve and causing my right leg to atrophy.

Now, three missing discs later, I’m training for The Great Walk in June (63.5 km in one day: Gold River to Tahsis) and The Weekend to End Breast Cancer in September (60 km in two days: Vancouver). I’m doing it to celebrate my current health and to support family, friends and others whose lives have been knocked sideways by cancer.
In the last two years both my parents, an uncle and three friends were diagnosed with cancer. The current odds are that 2 out of 5 Canadians will have cancer. The good news is: 60% survive to live full lives.

Please join me in supporting the quality of people’s lives. The $13 million that has been raised by The Weekend event in the past four years is bound to positively impact someone you love.

If you choose to donate please:
1. Search for http://www.endcancer.ca/
2. Choose “Vancouver” (the event is happening all across Canada)
3. Click on “Sponsor a Participant”
4. Type “Ramona Bucknell” in the search area to access my page.

You can donate on-line, print off a donor form and mail it in or you can ask me for a donor form. My goal is to raise a minimum of $2,000.
Proceeds benefit the BC Cancer Foundation and fund research, education, services and care.

If your financial support is focused elsewhere in the community, please consider passing this message along or sending me a note of encouragement.

Thank you for walking with me,
Ramona Joy Bucknell

Note: My father and three friends are currently clear of cancer.
